My best friend growing up was a big brother for a couple of years. He is a very social person and a lot of fun, so I had no doubt that his little brother would benefit from the partnership. However, what I didn't realize was how it would affect my friend. I believe that his time in BBBS helped him to realize how lucky he was to have a stable home with both parents and money for food, clothes, and other nice things. His little brother had an amazing mother and three little siblings, but they were not in a position to enjoy the what my friend did (single mom, multiple jobs, you get the picture).
It's rare to have a job that you truly enjoy, but the fact that you get to touch other lives like you do at the same time is really cool. Keep up the good work, both at BBBS and with your blog!
